Dear friends and artists,

As you might know by now, our Beloved Cash is in need of help. She begins Chemo soon, and there are many unexpected expenses that have come up for that. The vet’s emergence bill already claimed our rent money for this month. Cash has been a part of helping many other local charities and thought maybe it would be okay if she asked the universe to help her. So Hal Samples’ Gallery, and the community of people surrounding are having a fund raiser for Cash, in hopes to help her.

This is where you come in:
We have 100 12X12 wood board to give out to any artist who wishes to contribute a little of their time and heart for Cash. Here is how it works: Hal gives you a board to be creative on, to do what you do, whether you oil paint, sculpt, screen print, or collage, you do it on this board. You then bring it back to us and it is put on the wall for the Cash for Cash event silent auction. The money goes to Cash’s chemotherapy.

Note:
Come pick up your board, or stay, and hang out with us, and create
your piece for cash there that evening. the Dallas Observer will be
here, as the are every week, to interview a band and they will play
a secret show, while we create, and hang out (do what we do best)

Dates:
Monday June 8: all boards are due back to gallery. (wire or eye hooks required on all pieces)
Wednesday June 10: Cash for Cash event, all day long

(if you were unable to pick up your board on Wednesday the 27th, you are welcome to pick up your board any time after that.) Gallery hours are noon - 8pm Tuesday through Friday and Sunday 2pm - 9pm.

“Apparizone Testimone” by Kelly Garrett Rathbone - May 30th - August 11th

Hal Samples’ Gallery proudly presents “Apparizone Testimone”, an exhibition in sculpture by Kelly Garrett Rathbone. This intelligent, and honest exhibition is based off of religious iconography and the effect that it has on viewers. This is an emotionally charged show for both the artist and the guests who come to look into her world. “Apparizone Testimone” will open with a reception on May 30th from 7P.M. to 11P.M. with live music by 100 Monkeys at 9:30PM. Free refreshments will be available to guests. Hal Samples’ Gallery located at 2814 Main street, Dallas TX, open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 8 P.M, and free of charge.

Rathbone pulled her inspiration for the show from her year spent in Italy, studying works by artists such as Bernini and Michealangelo. Rathbone’s pieces are life-size, as well as larger than life! Though the works are based on Christian iconography, Rathbone main focus is to pull emotion from the viewer, much like religious art does.

Kelly’s brother is Jackson Rathbone (who you might know from the movie Twilight.) is the lead singer, guitar and keyboard player in 100 Monkeys. This show is a gift from Jackson to Kelly in the form of a free show! 100 Monkeys will perform at 9:30 upstairs in Space. The show is 18 and older only.

“Apparizone Testimone” will be up from May 30th to August 11th. Hal Samples’ Space is located in Deep Ellum at 2814 Main Street. Event is open and free to the public. Please join us for this celebration! As always, complementary drinks and appetizers will await guests.
